Borrow or Buy Designer Handbag

Designer handbag borrow or buy buy the purse of your dreams   by Anna Miller

Copyright February 2006 By Anna Miller http://www.eFashionHouse.com

Designers must be jumping for joy to experience the craze purses have produced these days. Women will go to great lengths to carry a famous Designer Handbag. Its so very important businesses have popped up in every shape and form catering to this market niche.

Thankful for the Internets global exposure entrepreneurs reach people in all parts of the world looking for a new designer purse. Handbags in every price range are available to rent or purchase online. To those of you who aren't in the handbag circles paying $5000 for a pre owned Hermes handbag is no shock to those of us in the know!

There are authentic designer purses and counterfeit faux with hefty price tags resembling the real bags. So be careful not to fall prey to a fake unless of course, that's what you are in the market to purchase. Some of the counterfeits are so closely matched to the authentic handbags it takes an expert to know the difference. Prior to making a high priced handbag purchase visit a Discount Designer Handbag Blog for guidance. The one many people consult prior to making a purchase is located at ValueBags.com. You can email the Blog owner and receive a prompt reply. Be safe, not sorry.

So whether you are in the market for a quality designer valuebag priced under $100 or you are planning to buy your next $5000 Hermes handbag the internet is available to conduct thorough research prior to the purchase.

Wait! There are many purchase options. Websites offer consumers the opportunity to purchase a new bag put your bag on a layaway plan or borrow the bag instead of owning it. Personally the thought of borrowing a purse rubs me the wrong way. My head immediately starts asking questions. Who carried it last? What was inside it? Where had it been? You know all those weird thoughts about sanitation and germs!

Dont laugh. You remember when you were a child and your mom told you not to touch anything when you were in a public restroom. Well think about it. A purse is a very important part of your personal equipment. Hey! I've even carried my Maltese in my purse. But he is my mutt so it is OK.

So borrowing a designer handbag regardless of the cost just doesn't feel comfortable. However owning my own designer purse regardless of the cost is the price I am willing to pay for the tastes I have grown accustomed. There's nothing wrong with bargain hunting and finding the best bag for the best price. There are several places to shop both online and off. When was the last time you went shopping and didnt find a sale, bargain or clearance event?

Please dont take my opinion the wrong way. If you dont mind carrying a purse after a stranger has used it, thats your decision to make not mine. I like knowing the black Prada backpack I need to use when I travel is carefully stored in its sleeper bag in the closet waiting for my next trip. To allow the sharing my Vintage Gucci JackieO with a person I never met is unlikely. The same is true for my prized Hermes Birkin and Kelly bags. Could you imagine anyone else using your favorite purse? I'm so attached to most of my high end designer handbags they've become an integral part of my personal insignia.

So, heres my final word of advice to all the designer handbag addicts. Save your money and invest in the bag of your dreams. If next year its no longer something you want to keep around, sell it, and buy another! Theres websites where you can recycle pre-owned authentic designer handbags.

Shop around. Buy authentic designer products, and enjoy them for a long time. Care for your bag babies and properly store them when they are not being used. Its very rare for a hot style to fall short in longevity. Look at the famous Fendi Baguette. Its still a hot little number and has been on the arms of the rich and not so famous for about ten years.

Designer handbags are the rage. Yes, its so true. You can buy a pair of jeans at the Gap for $60 and wear them carrying your $5000 Hermes. Now, doesn't that sound more appealing than renting a purse? Think twice about membership fees adding up to the cost of a designer purse. Save your money and buy yourself that new Prada, Fendi, Gucci or Hermes. You'll be very glad you did.

Designer Sun Glasses

Sunglasses - Cock A Snook At The Sun   by Richard Dornell

In a recent online poll a large number of people were asked what they couldn't do without when going outdoors on a sunny day. The answer with the highest percentage was 'sunglasses'! When King Nero of Rome used rubies and emeralds to look through at the Gladiators fighting for their lives in the Colloseum, little did he realize that the jewels in his hands would become the precursor of the most well known outdoors accessory in centuries to come.

Only now, sunglasses are more than an accessory, they are a bare necessity. What with the pollution and the sunlight falling harsher on the earth, you need something to shield the most fragile part of your body - your eyes - from damaging UV rays and all the dust and grime. An especially useful thing to have, "glares" are inevitably a fashion accessory as well, made popular by movie and pop celebrities sporting super - brands like a RayBan or a Gucci.

Several global companies manufacture and market shades today; one of the top most being Bausch & Lomb. Bausch manufactures a variety of sunglasses to suit different ranges and preferences. Designer shades cost more but are a very coveted fashion accessory and Gucci, Prada and Versace are hot property in this segment. If you don't feel like spending a bomb on designer ware, there are a whole host of other brands that offer very stylish and affordable sun - shades.

Most shades use lenses made of high-resolution plastic, glass or polycarbonate. Glass shades are the best quality, though if it's just for a few days at a beach resort, you can try other qualities. The best and the easiest place to buy glares is the Internet where you can window shop, look for the best rates and buy, all without ever having to move from your chair.

Designer Shoes

Designer Shoes For Fall 2005   by Catherine Olivia

If there's one thing that can't be denied it's the relationship between a woman and her shoes. For me the highlight of any new season is the shoes. For Fall 2005 the designers are offering shoes that range from classic styles like flats, mules, sling backs and Mary Jane's, to outrageous wedges and peep toe pumps on four inch heels. If you dare, some of these styles are available in dazzling colors, opulent fabrics and fun animal prints. There is something to please every shoe maven this Fall season.

Manolo Blahnik favors the use of animal prints such as zebra, leopard, cheetah, and black and white pony for his offering of pumps, sling backs and flats. A black suede mule is made even more frou-frou with a rabbit fur pom-pom. His salute to the Moroccan influenced shoe this season appears to be a stylish and sumptuous Brocade d'Orsay pump in teal and magenta with jeweled accents. His evening shoe selections are sling back, mule, Mary Jane and sandals shown in satin, patent leather, mesh, beaded metallic and crepe de chine. Carrie would be in Manolo-heaven.

My personal favorite pump of the Fall 2005 season is a watermelon colored Florence Tweed d'Orsay offered by Anne Taylor. The collection also has a tweed dress and handbag to match. This shoe has a classic business look, but I think it would pair nicely with tailored jeans for casual wear. Also in the new watermelon color Ann Taylor offers a lizard embossed leather open toe pump and belt. A selection of boots is offered in leather and suede, in heights from ankle to mid-shaft to knee, and with round or pointed toe.

Designer Emilio Pucci is offering round and square toe platform shoes in wild outrageous 60's inspired prints. He offers a round toe ankle strap pump in vibrant shades of violet, orange and black that coordinate perfectly with his Turtle print handbag and turtleneck. He offers a lovely black suede ballerina flat accented with a Niger print, which can also be accessorized with the Niger corduroy small messenger.

For Fall 2005 Marc by Marc Jacobs seems to favor a rounded toe. His pumps, flats and Mary Jane's are being shown in bright and imaginative color combinations. There is an ankle strap shoe with an aqua floral pattern accented by purple suede on a wedge heel, a shiny teal green patent leather round toe pump accented with suede, glitter and snake embossed leather on a chunky heel, a sweet Mary Jane in plush velvet trimmed with contrasting grosgrain ribbon with contrasting stitching. For me the shoe "par excellence" of this collection is a quilted violet colored velvet open toed pump on a 3 1/2 inch heel that is accented with a pale olive grosgrain ribbon laced through antiqued brass eyelets and tied in a bow above the toe. You have got to see this shoe to believe it.

Now go out there girls.....and shop!

Authentic Labels & Replica Handbags

Replica Handbags Prove Authentic Labels Are Not Needed
by Catherine Olivia

To me, there is only one reason to buy a replica or designer inspired handbag....it's because if you paid $450.00 or more for that authentic Vuitton Monogram Papillion 30 bag you wouldn't have enough money for that Prada, or that Fendi, or that Chanel. Let's face it, for most of us purses are as important and exchangeable an accessory as our shoes. One pair of shoes will never do, and one handbag won't do either! Different outfits require different handbags!

I still wish that I had bought that authentic Balenciaga Motorcycle bag, that aqua colored one that I lusted after, but at upwards of $400.00 for a large one, I just couldn't afford it. Well, actually I could have afforded it, but was it really worth that price? Would this handbag finally have been "the one"? Would it be the one I carry all the time, the one that will compliment most of my outfits, or will it end up back in it's dust bag in the top of my closet? Knowing my track record, it would be back in it's dust bag in a matter of a few months.

Enter replica handbags. Most replica handbags are so perfectly reproduced that most of us, even your friends, and that woman giving you a second glance on the street won't be able to tell the difference. Most replica handbags are less than half the price of authentic designer bags. Needless to say, the materials used in the manufacture of replica bags are not as high quality as those used in designer bags, but some are very good. There are some high quality replica bags and some not so high quality replica bags. You'll want to do a little detective work before you purchase. Whenever you're spending your money you will want to get your money's worth.

Some online replica handbag sites actually have a hand in the manufacturing of the replicas. Look for these vendors. They choose the bag to be copied, choose the quality of the leather, the buckles and the zippers used. Higher quality business will do their absolute best to copy designer bags, down to the stitches used. They will inspect the bag paying attention to small details. They will also give you a money back guarantee or provide a one month warranty. These bags cost more than cheaper replicas, but they will be worth it.

Then, there are the cheap replica handbags mass produced in China. Generally cheap bags are very easy to spot. The first clue to quality would be the price. A replica Balenciaga Motorcycle bag for $19.95 is going to be a real disappointment. You do get what you pay for. These cheap replica handbags have inferior leather, or, as in the $19.95 bag above are made of simulated leather. Some may have uneven stitching and even puckered seams. They just aren't worth it.

Enjoy your handbags - choose carefully - and keep them guessing!

Vintage Bag

How To Spot a Valuable Vintage Beaded Bag

Handmade beaded bags originated about 200 years ago and have been one of the costliest bags ever due to the unique workmanship that had to go into each handbag. For example, around 1800, the price for a beaded bag was about $5.00. By the early 1900's, European beaded bags cost about $100.00, which was a very large sum at the time.
You can usually tell the age of a beaded bag based on certain indications such as the size of the beads (bags from the mid-1800's are made with very small, fine beads - about 1,000 beads per square inch). The motifs of bags (their designs) have changed over the years. Funeral scenes were common on beaded bags in the early 1800's but from 1820 to about 1860, beautiful outdoor scenes, historical landmarks, and romantic interludes were depicted.

The major design scheme in these early bags consisted of 3 defined horizontal layers knitted into the bag. The bottom usually had a tassel in the middle unless the bottom was square, which usually meant that fringe would be used instead. The middle section (the largest) had illustrated scenes. The top had a pattern that complimented the entire design and usually closed with a drawstring or clasp. These beaded bags were cherished and passed down from generation to generation.

If you are lucky enough to have inherited one of this fabulous bags, it may be worth a great deal of money. The intrinsic value, however, of this family heirloom goes far beyond mere finances to the core of what makes you part of a much larger human connection. Enjoy this representation of the past and tell it's story to your own children when you continue the tradition of the beaded bag.

Top Online Fashion Designer

Fashion Located Around The World
by Claire Peacock

Who has the time to tear around the world to visit the

fashion world's hot spots? Paris, London, New York and

Milan are hardly near to each other and shows go on in each

place several times each year. There's always at least one

young designer who is 'it' for the year and who will be in

the limelight for many years to come. So, who is at the

forefront of trends in the next few years? Keep an eye open

for:

A la Disposition is literally shaping the fashion world

with its amazing corsets. They are creating delicate

shaping designs to produce a fit that is perfect for every

body shape. The outer cloth will 'hug' the body while the

stitching holds the fabric snugly. The combination of cut

and structure from corsets of the past along with modern

innovations of elegance, A la Disposition designs luxurious

high fashion corsets. The corsets are made from the

extraordinary weaves chosen from the best mills in Italy,

England and France. Experienced needleworkers in A la

Disposition's own workshops complete each corset. The only

negative aspect to owning an A la Disposition creation is

that your finest piece of clothing may never be seen by

those who can appreciate its style and quality.

Anna Sui is a name that might sound familiar to many and

will continue to be heard and recognized for many years to

come. Anna Sui's start in fashion begins with an adorable

story of a young girl who would dress her dolls and the

neighbor's action figures for her own individualized

edition of the Academy Awards. Her love of fashion

blossomed as she began to design her own clothing and took

pictures from magazines as her own personal inspiration.

She is often quoted as referring to her collection of

fashion clippings as her 'genius files'.

After school Anna worked as a stylist and in retail but

she continued to design and make her own clothes.

Eventually she had the confidence to enter six designs in

the Boutique Show and was rewarded with an order from

Macys. Anna branched out on her own, running her business

through her apartment for ten years before she felt

confident enough to open a boutique in the SoHo area of New

York. In 1999 it was a natural progression to open a second

boutique in Los Angeles. Anna's designs remain at the

forefront of fashion world and she is an inspiration to

absolutely everyone who comes across her.

In addition to underwear and outer wear, fashion also

influences the accessories we use both personally and in

our homes. One of the leading names in this area is Kate

Spade who is absolutely at the cutting edge and has been

since she started designing her own handbags whilst working

on the Mademoiselle magazine.

Her first line was a selection of classically shaped

handbags using innovative colors and fabrics. In 1993, with

her husband, she launched 'Kate Spade Handbags' which have

been honoured by the fashion industry for their excellent

designs. Kate Spade is quite simply known as the producer

of sheer elegance in accessories.

Luggage Tag, Luggage Set

Luggage to suit your style   by Gareth Powell

Luggage has many schools of thought. Here are but some of them: • Minimalist. Cutting down to the bare essentials so that you need only one cabin bag which you can carry on the aircraft. My daughter has this down to a fine art and recently toured India for two weeks with one small, leather Gladstone bag that I bought in China many years ago.

• The hard case. This refers not to the character of the traveler but to the suitcase used. Almost all flight crews use hard cases. Watch an airline crew collect their baggage from the carousel after an international journey and you will see that it is all medium to large-sized, hard-sided suitcases (nearly always gray) with built-in wheels and extendible handles. Sophisticated travelers sneer at this. But who, I ask, would know better?

• The suit bag. Many experienced travelers are of the opinion that a well-made suit bag will last for many years and carry everything you could possibly need. A suit bag used as cabin baggage on overseas flights will almost certainly carry everything you need.

• The enlightened traditionalist. This is a traveler who realizes that the suitcase acquired for the first Big Trip at the age of 21 will not cover all needs, all future travel. So keeps upgrading as time passes.

 • Horses for courses. Differing bags for different occasions. As a matter of sober truth, I have 32 of the damn things. But I was ever the profligate. There are, indeed, two main types of baggage. The type that will stand up to the rigors of overseas travel, but is so heavy it eats up much of your weight allowance. And that which is light and easy to handle and falls apart at inconvenient moments. There is no such thing as ideal baggage. Only that which can be considered not bad. If you are going on an overseas trip with more than four stopovers, your present baggage probably will not stand up to the strain. Get a new case before you go or you, too, will scatter your dirty laundry across the departure area of Dom Muang airport to the amusement of hordes of Thai travelers.

 • Do not buy expensive name-brand luggage. They are called 'steal-me' cases on the reasoning that if you can afford a genuine Louis Vuitton suitcase you can afford to pack valuables inside. Look instead for something that is anonymous, easily cleaned and light. Don't worry too much about the quality. After a trip with four stopovers it will not have a long life expectancy.

• Do not buy any luggage which has built-in or hang-on gimmicks. They invariably fail. As do combination locks and foldaway handles. Zips are also perhaps best avoided. I have had several sad experiences with zippers which have left me physically and mentally scarred. You may well be luckier.

 • Have wheels, will travel. In my experience, there is no rarer animal than the airport porter - an endangered species - and airport trolleys are not allowed past customs. Some are charged out at outrageous rents and you never have the right coin. Therefore, a suitcase with wheels is not a bad idea. Some are easy to maneuver, some aren't. Test before you buy. Better yet is a folding trolley which most aircrew members use. Get one with the biggest wheels you can. Oil the wheels before you leave, otherwise you will squeak, squeak, squeak your way around the world.

• Clearly identify your luggage with labels and tags, preferably plastic. Do not make it so that your name and address can be read by a casual, and possibly evil-minded, observer. • Paste your name and address and telephone number into the inside lid. If the airline loses

your luggage - and this happens less and less - this is one of the stock questions. Good to be able to give a firm affirmative.

• Buy a strap-around webbing belt in a bright color with a difficult buckle. Go further and use instant glue and pop-rivets to rivet and glue three straps to it. When these are tightened the bag is unopenable at speed. Thieves want the easy mark so they pass it by. My current main suitcase has its straps fastened by rivets and glue and is, I think, probably thief-proof although that is tempting fate.

• Make your luggage look different. Even if you only bind the handle with bright tape, make sure your baggage is easy to recognize. This will not help in the recovery of your lost case - airlines only telex the style of suitcase to the last destination, not descriptions. But it will help you to spot your case as it comes off the carousel.

Louis Vitton Bags, Handbag

Designer Handbags

SHould We Trust The Sales Assistants?
   by Rufus Steele

Readers of one of my previoius articles might well think that the answer to this question will be a categorical NO, based on my "Designer Handbags -- Can Men Buy Them" article.

In it I described the experience I recently had in an LV store where the staff were not exacxtly falling over themselves to serve me, a mere male in a handbag store.

But my answer would have to be a carefully restrained -- Maybe!

Now the direct, and indirect, knowledge that I use for the answer to this question is pulled purely from experiences and tales recounted by others involving Louis Vuitton stores. I cannot say for certain whether or not it applies to other designer labels -- although I strongly suspect it will do!

Now at one time, store managers and assistants were held in the same revered light that doctors enjoyed. What they said or reported was seen as gospel, never to be questioned, let alone doubted.

But doctors are only human, bless 'em. They, like us, make mistakes and errors in judgement. (With the hours some of them have to work I'm not in the least little bit surprised!)

In the olden days, when a doctor advised that little Johny was suffering nothing more than a slight fever and should be fed aspirin every fours hours until he perked up, no thought of questioning the diagnosis would occur to mom and dad -- even though they could see little Johny's leg was bent forwards 90 degrees at the knee and he kept fainting every time someone coughed near it!

It used to be like that in the stores as well.

"Good Morning Modom, may I help you?"

"Yes please, may I see the new Hyanuki Messenger Bag please?"

"Oh, I'm so sorry Modom, that bag hasn't been released yet! Well, it certainly wasn't before I went on my holiday, anyway."

"Erm, isn't it the one on the shelves over there? The stack of three of them with the sign on the front saying 'Hyanuki Messnger Bag'?"

"No Modom, certainly not! It can't be or else I would have been told about it!"

Now, staff in the LV stores are never allowed to give out written authenticity statements for any bags! Any at all.

If you like -- test me on this!

Go into one of their stores and buy a bag there and then. As soon as you've been handed your receipt, try asking for a note from the sales assistant or manager, affirming the fact that this bag is an authentic item!

They'll politely decline! (They'll also probably look at you as though you're totally bonkers, but don't worry about that, there are plenty more stores to go and buy from!)

Not because they don't doubt the authenticty -- but because they aren't allowed to by company rules.

I used to think that this was because they would never be sure that the letter or note of authenticity wouldn't then be copied or used to give a fake bag an incorrect "value", make it appear genuine and authentic.

Now, I'm sure that a large element of that reason still remains. However, I think it is also tempered by another reason, one which should concern anyone seeking an accurrate assesment of their bags.

I believe that they refuse to allow this valuation to be recorded in any form in case it is wrong. Because they expect it to be wrong on occassion.

Too tall an idea to be believeable?

Well, how about if I told you about a lady I know who had a hilarious experience in an LV store.

She was the lucky owner of a Gold Suhali bag. Now, these are rare, seriously rare. It's the type of bag that only the celebs get to own because of A) Price and B) Exclusivity! I cannot remember where she had got hers from -- but I do know it was without a doubt authentic!

She went into an LV store and proceeded to look around. She did notice what seemed to be a frosty reception from the sales assistants but assumed it was directed somewhere else. Imagine her surprise when she discovered it was aimed at her. Both of the sales assistants in the store thought she was a fugly lover -- because they believed the Gold Suhali was a fake! Not only didn't they know that one had been released, they didn't even know they'd be made in the first place!

And before you leap from your seat in defence of the beleagured sales assistants with a shout of "Well, that 's not strange if the bag is so rare!" let me temper this by saying that the bag was rare in the same way as the Mona Lisa is rare. Rare -- but everyone knows about it!

With the increase in the number of bags in a range and the number of ranges as well, it will always be an ever expanding job for LV and other designer labels to ensure all their staff are up to speed on all the bags available and their particular differences.

However much training they receive - they'll always be behind the times on one or two ranges or items at least. No amount of store training will be able to overcome the simple dynamics of time available for training v number of staff requiring training v people available to do training divided by time available across all the people required to be involved in the training.

Sadly, no one knows all the answers.

Now, if you're lucky enough to find a store assistant with whom you can strike up a "rapport" then you should be able to trust their answers more than most. If they don't know the real answer, it's in their best interests to find out for you.

But should you trust an SA without question?

No, I don't think so. You should temper their answer with information that you glean from other sources as well, such as forums, chat groups of like minded designer lovers and from press and magazine articles.

Balance these sources of answers together -- and you'll always have the best answer possible -- and not a potential bad guess!

Is It Worth Buying Replica Handbags?   by Rose Anne

Not everybody is lucky to own designer handbags, but they do want to follow the trend and look fashionable. What they did is then finding some replica handbags. Well, with much cheaper price, sometimes you cannot look the difference between authentic and replica handbags. Even a professional has trouble telling the difference because they are now good.

Is it worth it buying replica handbags? Probably yes for those who can't afford the real thing because you get what you wanted and can save hundreds of dollars. But you must know that according to the International Anti Counterfeiting Coalition (IACC) buying replica is the same as robbing the U.S. of more than $200 billion a year. This kind of business is not legitimate. Of course there are other more things, include the safety and the connection with terrorists, gangs and organized crime syndicates. Sure you don't want this to happen.

Things You Should Know about Replica Handbags

So, here is a clue to help you finding the real thing, not the replica handbags. Well, this is not a recommendation that you must buy branded designer handbags, but only a way to help you identified which one is replica and not. Check it out!

- When you see the price of the handbags are much lower than you have seen before, that mean its replica handbags.

- See where the tag is coming from; if it said "Made in Taiwan", that's definitely not real.

- Where it's being sold. Authorized dealers for Chanel, Louis Vuitton, etc. do not sell handbags out of the trunk of a car.

- If you walk down to Los Angeles' Santee Street and New York's Canal Street, you can see replica handbags available on the street.

- Replica handbags can be recognized through its flimsy hardware, cheap leather and misspelled logos were a giveaway.

If you know that, how are you going to decide? Your decision is in your hand! You can buy either replica handbags or the real one, all depend on you. But if you want to know more, just look inside the Internet to find more information about replica and authentic designer handbags. Hope you will decide which the best is for you.

Louis Vuitton Luggage

What Your Luggage Tells Others About You   by Flor Bonifacio

Airports are fascinating places. In the midst of all the rush is the enforced waiting. Waiting that people make use of in all sorts of ways. One of the things that I enjoy most doing is looking at people's luggage and imagining what they do for a living, where they've been, where they're going to and what they might be like if I knew them.

There are two fertile points where I do my luggage musings. The first one is on departure as I queue up to check in my luggage with the rest of the throng. The other is upon arrival as I wait for my belongings in the luggage carousel.

There are the easy to decipher luggages. One of them is the standard airline sized black luggage with wheels and retractable handles that most corporate executives -ever the efficient time managers - carry. Most of these time saver luggages do not end up in carousels nor are they checked in, as they now fall into the hand-carry luggage that can be wheeled (just) along the jumbo jet's tiny middle aisle, stored in the overhead lockers (again just), and whisked out of the plane and the airport for the next boardroom meeting halfway around the globe,

Another easy to figure out luggage is the humongous backpack carried by the globe-trotting young person out to experience the world on a tight budget. Their backpacks are normally double their size and weight and in them I would imagine would be blankets not usually provided in cheap backpacker hostels and pots and pans that might come in handy when they run out of money and need to camp out for the night.

A hard one for me is the hard case Samsonite luggage and the person that comes with it. They seem to fall into all sorts of categories. They could be rich widows who are going to Europe to while away their time and need a few Samsonite hard case luggages with combination locks to secure their diamonds and pearls.

Or they could be just like me who don't own any luggage for myself but borrow from my Mother who happens to own a handsome-looking golden hard case Samsonite luggage. I always think that they would be infrequent travellers like me because who would be sane enough to go more than twice a year carrying a luggage that is heavier than what you would and could put in them, wheels notwithstanding.

One type of luggage and owners that I spotted on my way out of Sydney to Bangkok recently stood out from the rest however. The set of bags were so worn out and dated and were a "mix bag" (pun unintended) of soft imitation leather orange vinyls cracking at the edges, as well as hard case luggages with patches of green peering from the airport stickers - from Athens to Zaire - plastered onto them. The owners seem to be as proud of their bags as the lady next to them with her Louis Vuitton designer label soft case with wheels luggage.

I reluctantly classed them as retired seasoned travellers who are romantics at heart and who would not trade their worn-out, beaten luggages who each carry special memories, for the classiest Louis Vuitton in the world.

I must confess I have been tempted on a number of occasions to strike up a casual conversation with the owners of these hard to decipher luggages to confirm that my suspicions and mental cataloguing are correct. But who wants to spoil the wonderful world of fanciful fiction over the harsh reality of boring facts. Not me. And not in the midst of all the rush and enforced waiting in special places called airports.

Don't Buy Fake Designer Handbags

Designer Handbags -- Why Not Buy a Fake and Save Money?   by Rufus Steele

Ooh, topical question!

I suppose the best way to answer this question is by asking one in return!

If you bought a fake for any reason except for the price difference -- what do you expect to get from the deal?

Would you buy a fake for any other reason than price?

Thinking honestly -- I can't think of any reason other than 'making a saving' for buying a fake bag.

After all, surely one of the biggest problems with buying a fake bag is the knowledge that it won't be made of the same quality material or build? If it doesn't fall apart within the first 4 -- 6 weeks, then you're lucky. I'd be awfully surprised to find your luck extending much beyond two to three months at most.

Even if the bag doesn't literally fall to pieces, the appearance of it will change hugely. Edges will fray and tear, stitches will pull and shred and the general appearance of the bag will dull, the leather losing it's rigidity and ability to hold the shape it's supposed to!

So the bag that you bought for $150 as opposed to $600 has given you about three to four months use before it is starting to look embarassing, quite frankly!

Now, maybe you could buy three of the same bag, save $150 and have something you wouldn't feel to ashamed to be seen with for up to a year. Just bin the old ruined one, change your bag for a new one each quarter and you're away.

But that sort of puts you onto the timescale where the authentic designer handbag is just starting to be broken in.

It's gaining suppleness, the leather trims are starting to age and patina, going that gorgeous golden honey color that indicates quality leather. The bag has a used and loved look about it without any of the nasty signs of wear and tear that an inferior version will have.

And this is one of the biggest reasons for the price being what it is.

Quality.

Quality of build and quality of materials used.

Authentic designer handbags are built to last -- sometimes they'll last a lifetime and beyond, making it a family heirloom that's passed down from daughter to daughter.

It is very common for Hermes Birkin and Kelly bags to be in a family for decades -- being used and loved all the time.

Some of the newer Louis Vuitton lines, such as the Suhali, can be expected to outlast just about anything else.

It's the quality of the leather you see!

Another good reason for buying authentic and not a fake?

You.

Yes -- you! You're important. You don't think so?

(Well, I think you are, even if no one else tells you so!)

You deserve something to be proud of, something that stands you out in a crowd and says "Hey -- Look at me, I've got taste AND class!" That's what an authentic designer handbag will shout for you -- no need for you to get a sore throat all the time.

I wonder what a fake shouts out about you?

Careful now - it might be rather rude!!!

Buying Authentic Louis Vuitton From Auctions

TIPS TO CONSIDER WHEN BUYING LOUIS VUITTON HANDBAGS FROM AUCTIONS    by Costas Pitas

1) Only e-luxury is authorized to sell brand new Louis Vuitton. It is owned and operated by Louis Vuitton and their associates. Their prices are as much as you would find them on ebay or other websites anyway, So why not just buying for them, if you want to make sure you are buying authentic. Usually the items offered on ebay will sell at a premium. And if the pictures do not belong to the person that owns the handbag, you never know what you are buying.

2) Most auctions around the internet offer fake Louis Vuitton handbags. Be advised again, LV does not wholesale it's merchandise and not too many people would have brand new and authentic Louis Vuitton.

3) Please note that many fakes are sold during the weekend at "special discounts", because the LV lawyers do not work full time during the weekends, so they can sell their merchandise undisrupted.

 4) You might consider not purchasing from a non smoke-free home. Did you know that smoke enters the fabric and often leather parts of LV bags and it is not easy to get rid off. In the long run, it decreases the quality of your Louis Vuitton.

 5) Sellers with high feedback do not always sell authentic merchandise. Don't get me wrong, if a seller has high feedback, good for him/her. She/he at least finds a way to keep clients happy even by selling fakes. But make sure you ask questions before bidding. Make sure you can get a money back guarantee if the bag is found to be a fake.

 6) If a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Check out the prices of similar handbags in the same category. Check out the same handbag at eluxury.com. Too good to be true? It probably is.

 7) What you see is not always what you get. The seller might have a picture of an authentic Louis Vuitton. When the auction ends though, he/she sends you the fake. And the story goes on. So, be careful. Even if the picture reflects an authentic LV, you might still get a fake. Not all scammers get caught by eBay police or LV lawyers.

Louis Vuitton History, Company

Louis Vuitton

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The signature icon of the Louis Vuitton company.Louis Vuitton (born August 4, 1821, died February 27, 1892) was a luggage-maker and luggage-designer in Paris in the mid-late 1800's. More than a century later, Vuitton's handbags and luggage are now a status symbol around the world and are often looked to in the world of fashion. The Louis Vuitton "LV" Monogram design can be considered the very first "designer label" on a product (first in the contemporary sense), as it was created in 1896 with the intent of preventing counterfeiting.

Vuitton was born in Cons-le-Sannier, France. He moved from his hometown of Anchay, Jura, France in 1835 at the age of fourteen. Two years later, he arrived in Paris and started working as an apprentice for trunk-maker and packing-case-maker Monsieur Marechal.

The Louis Vuitton Company

Early Days (1854-1892)
When Vuitton opened his first store in Paris in 1854, he began by selling flat-topped trunks that were lightweight and airtight, and were bought by France's Empress Eugénie in its first year of sale. His first piece was the grey Trianon canvas flat trunk. Vuitton was the first trunk-maker to create a flat-topped trunk or an airtight trunk. (All trunks before this had rounded tops for water to run off, and thus could not be stacked.) Surprisingly, the Monogram Canvas design was not created until after Louis Vuitton's death; it was created by his son, Georges.

1854 - Vuitton opened his first store in Paris on Rue Nueve des Capucines, founding Louis Vuitton Malletier ("Louis Vuitton Trunk-Maker").

1860 - Vuitton opened a larger factory in Asnières-sur-Seine to accommodate increased demand.

1867 - Vuitton entered the Universal Exhibition at the World's Fair in Paris, winning the bronze medal.

1872 - Creation of the red and beige striped canvas

1876 - Creation of the wardrobe trunk, which contained a rail and small drawers for storing clothing.

1880 - Georges gets married and (on the same day) is given control of the business.

1883 - Georges' son Gaston-Louis is born.

1885 - The first Louis Vuitton store in London opens.

1888 - The Damier Canvas pattern is created by Louis Vuitton in collaboration with Georges, and bears a logo that reads "marquee L. Vuitton déposée" (which literally means "mark L. Vuitton deposited" or roughly "L. Vuitton trademark").

1889 - Vuitton wins the gold medal at the World's Fair in Paris.

1892 - Vuitton dies; the Vuitton company begins selling handbags.

Golden Age of Louis Vuitton (1893-1936)
After Vuitton's death, Georges made Louis Vuitton a worldwide corporation.

1893 - Georges displays Vuitton products at the World's Fair in Chicago.

1894 - Georges publishes his book "Le Voyage".

1896 - Georges designs the 'Monogram Canvas' (shown to the right). It came to be called 'Monogram Canvas;' its graphic symbols were based on the trend for Japanese/Oriental designs in the late Victorian Period. This can be considered the first "designer logo", since Georges was driven to create this pattern to prevent further copying of Vuitton patterns (counterfeiting had already begun by this point). Georges then sailed to the United States, in which he toured various cities such as New York, Philadelphia, and Chicago. He sold Vuitton products during the visit.

1899 - Georges exhibited Vuitton products at the maiden Paris Auto Show.

1900 - Georges Vuitton was given the honor to set up the "Travel Items and Leather Goods" section of the 1900 Paris World Fair. 1901 - the Louis Vuitton Company introduced the 'Steamer Bag', a small handbag to be kept inside Vuitton luggage trunks. 1904 - Georges chaired the jury for the St. Louis World Fair. In the same year, the Louis Vuitton company introduced a new line of trunks that have special compartments for items such as perfumes, clothing, and other goods.

1906 - Georges' son Gaston-Louis married Renee Versille and Louis Vuitton introduces trunks for automobiles.

1914 - The Louis Vuitton Building opens in Champs-Elysees. The building was the largest travel-goods store in the world at that time. Store locations open in New York, Bombay, Washington, London, Alexandria and Buenos Aires as World War I begins.

1924 - Only eight years after the end of World War I, the 'Keepall' is invented. This bag foreran the duffel bag in a travel bag for light travel to keep necessities in.

1929 - The seventy-fifth anniversary of Louis Vuitton, a toiletry case is introduced specifically for opera singer Marthe Chenal. It could fit bottles, brushes, mirrors, powder boxes and more toiletries.

1931 - Louis Vuitton introduced exotic bags such as a handbag of crocodile skin, as well as elephant hide handbags for the Colonial Exhibition.

1932 - Louis Vuitton introduced the Nóe bag. This bag was made for champagne vinter to transport bottles.

1933 - The Louis Vuitton Speedy bag was introduced.

1936 - The golden age of Louis Vuitton ends as Georges Vuitton passes away. Estimates attribute Georges Vuitton with over 700 new Vuitton designs. Gaston-Louis Vuitton assumes control of the company. The secretary trunk is introduced for Leopold Stokowski, a conductor.

Corporate Age of Louis Vuitton (1937 - Present Day)

Louis Vuitton store in Omotesando, TokyoA recent book by Stephanie Bonvincini, Louis Vuitton, A French Saga, has made allegations about Louis Vuitton's links with the Vichy regime and the subsequent Nazi occupation of France in the second world war.

1946 - Louis Vuitton decides to go toward other industries instead of laying off workers in the post-war situation.

1951 - Louis Vuitton supplies all the travel items for President Auriol of France's tour of America after World War II.
